- electronicIndia 2008 in Bangalore from September 2 to 5, 2008 to feature an attractive series of talks
- One-day
seminar: "Exploring the latest Technologies and Tools in Electronics
Design" on design technologies, tools, applications and future
developments in the field of programmable logic
Everything
will revolve around electronics in Bangalore, India’s high-tech metropolis, from September 2
to 5, 2008 when
electronicIndia 2008, the leading trade fair for electronic
components and electronics production in India
and South Asia, is held at the modern
Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).
Messe München International,
the event organizer, is expecting over 1,000 exhibitors, including every
renowned company in the electronics and electronics production industries. A
three-day series of talks will round off the attractive overall package for the
anticipated 15,000 trade visitors at electronicIndia 2008. One of the
highlights will be the seminar entitled “Exploring the latest Technologies and
Tools in Electronics Design”, which will be staged at the BIEC on September 4,
2008 in conjunction with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
The
key topic of the one-day seminar will be field-programmable gate arrays
(FPGAs). In order to keep pace on the rapidly expanding electronics market in
India with different requirements from the application areas of consumer
electronics, telecommunications, medical technology and industrial electronics,
programmable logic will provide the right momentum. Quick and cost-conscious
electronics design is always essential within the meaning of a competitive
“time to market” of the final products. In eight individual contributions each
lasting approximately 30 minutes, the FPGA seminar will describe the use of
FPGAs in different applications, will closely examine new forward-looking
applications and will provide specific instructions and information for the
technically and economically grounded development of electronics.
For
example, Parag Kulkarni
from Actel Pan Asia will explain how FPGAs can be used to create entirely new
products while Pradeep P. Nair
from Wipro Technologies will demonstrate in his talk how image and video
processing can be used with the assistance of FPGAs in medical applications. Kedar Apte
from Patni Computer Systems has chosen the design of programmable logic for
industrial applications as his topic. With regard to applications in automobile
electronics and mobile electronics, Anil Gupta, Managing Director of ARM, will
analyze “Cost implications and interoperability of processor IP for automotive
and mobile applications”. Shridhar Laddha from SoftJin Technologies
will explain new methods and technologies which are used by software designers
and IP suppliers to increase productivity in development. Finally, a
representative of the Xilinx company will give a talk entitled “FPGA versus configurable
processors: selecting the right device for your application”.
There
will be ample time and opportunity between the individual talks to exchange
experiences and information with other seminar participants and forge important
contacts for future projects. The seminar will end with a podium discussion on
the following topic: “How FPGA technologies will shape the future of
reconfigurable systems“.
In
addition to the electronics design seminar, two other important events will be
held, i.e. on September 2 the “International Conference on Contract
Manufacturing: The Indian Perspective” for the EMS market, which is booming in
particular in India, and on September 3 the symposium entitled “Trends and
Future Requirements in Automotive Electronics” regarding the developments in
the growth technology of automobile electronics.
