Automotive Report 2008 - Central Eastern Europe
The Central and Eastern European - CEE region is one of the dynamic
growth regions, following the accession of key countries to the
European Union, and increasing economic growth and stability in the
region. Additionally, with its proximity to established Western
European markets, CEE provides a unique opportunity for vehicle
manufacturers (VM) and suppliers looking for sales growth or lower-cost
production close to a major market region. Automotive and OEM supply
manufacturer face a number of challenges – from the supply chain
to the retail environment.
Description: The CEE Automotive Market Report published in January 2008 covers an analysis of the automotive industry in Central Eastern Europe. It concentrates on the automotive business in nine countries in the region including its two main areas: Central Eastern Europe, the “Visegrad” countries - Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary - and South Eastern Europe - Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey. In cross-country comparisons data for Russia were also quoted - especially regarding the role of local demand - as its importance for the whole region is especially high. It includes a complete coverage of the latest developments as well as the latest corporate news accompanied by statistical data. This sector report is ideal to keep you abreast on recent company and industry news. Written by local analysts, it is a unique market and business intelligence analysis, tailored to save time by providing in-depth information, while helping you to make confident and informed business decisions. The report covers the period up till November 2007 and contents 120 pages.
The Visegrad countries continue to witness substantial used-car imports, a result of huge demand for cheap second-hand vehicles from the West. The trend has been in place since the opening of the borders in May 2004 and in January 2007 causing a significant drop in new car sales and car production in the mentioned countries. However, used car imports did not affect local carmakers too much, as most of their production goes for export mainly to Western Europe. Visegrad Four faces increased competition from eastern countries, especially from Russia.
